CHILD STAR TO ADULT STAR.. You could write a book on this one. No matter how much talent a young star has, it is no guarantee he (or she) would make a good Adult star. A young star in the 'teen' years has a lot against this happening. The change in voice, in looks, career, peer pressure, responsibilities, make a rather uncertain answer. Some who were well known as a young performers, have a hard enough time handling life after the popularity has gone. But for those few who are not only focused but lucky enough to continue, the past experience will be invaluable. Not too common, but always possible.
A TOUGH TRANSITION.. How many child stars do you remember? Was it just a cute face? A funny commercial? A TV Sitcom character? A good part in a movie? I really never found a large amount of 'competition' among young stars. Someone is always looking for a particular look or type for a part, whatever it might be. Many of these are memorable. However, as this boy or girl grows to teen years and beyond, the competition becomes an issue. There are literally thousands of out-of-work actors. (Of these, only a small percentage are working at one time.) Does an Agent believe you have what it takes to continue an acting career? Your previous experience will help, but hopefully, you can do Theatre, Television, Dance, Sing, have talents and quirks, accents, whatever...that will give you the 'edge' at your auditions. Good networking and luck also play a large part. In the following paragraph is a list of some Child Actors that have continued to work up to and beyond their teen years!!
